Abstract

Modern ship operations use strict procedures and advanced automation, which may reduce seafarers’ experience in handling unexpected situations. This study aims to analyze the relationship between exception exposure deprivation and emergency readiness vulnerability among seafarers. A quantitative correlational method was conducted through a questionnaire survey involving 100 seafarers and maritime trainees in Banten, Indonesia. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, Pearson correlation, and simple linear regression. The results indicate that limited exposure to abnormal situations is associated with lower emergency readiness among seafarers. This study highlights the importance of realistic emergency training and varied scenarios to improve maritime safety and human performance.
